DOCK SEAL CANOPIES | SHIPPING AND RECEIVING, MILTON | CASE STUDY

Image
Rain, Rain, Go Away!
Don't you hate getting gusts of rain/snow in and around your loading dock? Dock levelers become slippery, products get damaged, overall leaving you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.. That's what this high-volume shipping facility was faced with as the cold weather began to hit.
With their busiest season underway, they couldn't risk any slow-downs! Although all 51 dock seals were in great condition, we were challenged to provide a solution that prevented the ingress of rain and snow. Truck staging was often less than ideal so a solution was needed that would also take that into account.

Solution:
Dock Canopies were the most effective solution. Wilcox supplied and installed canopies to fit the existing building facade recesses. However, timing was tight as the project was to be completed in just under a month.

WEATHER SEALS AND TRACK GUARDS | MATTRESS WAREHOUSE, MISSISSAUGA | CASE STUDY

Image
'Tis the season for cold drafts!

Challenge:
White light and cold drafts of air coming in and around the loading docks and doors. This impacted worker's efficiency, not to mention increased heating costs as the space needed to be heated more often.
Damaged door tracks also created inefficient use of some doors and docks as it was too difficult to open and close the doors.

Solution:
Our representative, Andrew, coordinated new perimeter weather seals along the doors and docks. Thus, creating a proper building seal, blocking out the drafts and potential critters.
Damaged sections of the track were also replaced with track guards to ensure the doors and docks continued to open and close properly.

HOIST - SHEAVE FABRICATION, HAMILTON | CASE STUDY

Image
This fabrication comes to us from our Hamilton Cranes Parts and Service Manager, Ida. Compensating sheaves were created for a material-handling company in Memramcook, New Brunswick.

A sheave is a pulley with a grooved wheel designed to hold a belt, wire rope or rope. The grooved wheel spins inside the frame, allowing the wire or rope to move freely and minimize wear and/or abrasion on the cable itself.

These sheaves were designed for a 1/2" groove rope and 16" diameter with 5.5" bore. For more material-handling solutions, visit our website or contact a Wilcox Representative at 905-274-5850.
